Acupuncture is one of the oldest methods of treatment in the world. It is the first treatment method that comes to mind when it comes to Chinese medicine. Dipping thin needles into special points on the body is the basis of treatment.

According to traditional Chinese medicine; it is a technique that allows balancing the flow of energy or life force that is believed to flow through the channels (meridians) in the body. Rebalancing your energy flow by inserting needles at certain points along the meridians is the goal of the treatment.

Application:

Your doctor will get an anamnesis about your general health condition, past health problems, and current discomfort before acupuncture treatment. Since the body is considered as a whole, the whole of your body is very important. A physical examination is also performed comprehensively. The procedure is performed while you are lying down. When carrying out the procedure, you need to take off your clothes.

Needles are inserted into special body parts called acupuncture points. Usually as many as 5 to 20 needles are used. The needles are disposable, personalized, sterilized, they are several cm long and quite thin. It is aimed to remain 20-30 min on the body. During the treatment period, the doctor may move the needle slightly, apply heat or light electricity to the needles. Be sure to inform your doctor if you experience pain or discomfort during the procedure. 6-10 sessions, including 1 per week, are sufficient for acupuncture treatment. Your doctor may schedule more sessions if necessary by calling for a check-up and checking your well-being.

Mechanism of action:

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that health occurs through the balance of “yin” and “yang” with the force of life known as chi. The imbalance of Yin and Yang leads to diseases. QI flows through channels in the body, and the doctor can reach chi through acupuncture points. The balance of the Qi flow is achieved by means of needles.

According to Western experts, acupuncture points are known as places where nerves, muscles and connective tissues can be stimulated. Many acupuncture points are located in the same place as the trigger point on the body.

Analgesic (analgesic) Effect: The pain threshold is raised. It provides healthier nutrition and blood supply to tissues and organs. These effects are achieved by secreting endorphins.
